Chief Executive Officer

Tom leads the organization with nearly 40 years of experience in behavioral health. After serving as CEO of New Arizona Family since 1999, he helped facilitate the merger with Triple R Behavioral Health to form Lifewell Behavioral Wellness in July 2011. Tom has served the behavioral health community in various different positions to include Chief Operations Officer, Director of Capacity Management Services, Clinical Director, Team Leader, Case Manager and Psychiatric Technician. He has held positions at Camelback Psychiatric Hospital System, East Valley Behavioral Healthcare Association and ComCare, a Regional Behavioral Health Authority (RBHA) for Maricopa County.

He has also served as a consultant on several project panels, including Multnomah County Crisis Planning in Oregon, PacifiCare Panel in California, Managed Health Network in Tennessee, Catalina Behavioral Authority in Arizona and the Towers Perrin Project to reorganize the Regional Behavioral Health Authority in Maricopa County.

Tom enjoys spending time reading theology and apologetics.

 

DORIS VAUGHT, CPA
Executive Vice President/CFO

Doris brings 18 years of experience in behavioral health to Lifewell Behavioral Wellness and has worked previously at the Regional Behavioral Health Authority (RBHA) and provider levels. She has expertise in Single Auditing, OMB A-133, Generally Accepted Accounting Practices (GAAP) and Arizona Tax-Exempt Organizational rules and regulations and is well versed in accounting, auditing and taxes.

Prior to joining Lifewell Behavioral Wellness in 2004, Doris has consulted with numerous non-profit organizations and private businesses. Her background includes financial restructuring, financial management, project oversight, day-to-day agency accounting operations, supervision of staff and consultants and technical writing.

Doris holds a Bachelor Degree in Commerce and Business Administration from University of Alabama and earned her CPA (Certified Public Accountant) in 2000.

In her free time Doris enjoys traveling, tennis, spending time outdoors and with friends and family.

 

barnesDAVID “KIP” BARNES
Chief Operations Officer

Kip oversees facilities and property management, including building construction, rehabilitation and property maintenance. With more than 20 years of experience, Kip joined the agency in 2002 after serving for 14 years at the Regional Behavioral Health Authority (RBHA) for Maricopa County, where he filled a variety of roles, including Case Manager, Team Leader, Site Manager, Area Director, Program Coordinator for Adult Services, Director of Planning and Special projects, Intergovernmental Relations Coordinator and Clinical Outreach.

Kip holds a Bachelor Degree in Sociology and Anthropology from University of Redlands.

In his spare time, Kip enjoys spending time with family and friends.

 

NICOLE CUPP-HERRING, MC, LPC, LISAC
Chief Clinical Officer

Nicole oversees all aspects of Lifewell Behavioral Wellness’ clinical programs. These services are available at all Lifewellness Centers throughout the valley. Nicole has extensive experience working in the provider community developing, implementing, evaluating programs using evidence based strategies.

Nicole brings over 13 years of experience in the behavioral health field and joined Lifewell Behavioral Wellness in 2002, having previously served as Clinical Director, outpatient manager and therapist.

Nicole earned her Master’s Degree in Counseling from the University of Phoenix. She currently serves as adjunct faculty at the University of Phoenix and at Rio Salado Community College teaching psychology and substance abuse courses. Nicole is a Licensed Professional Counselor as well as a Licensed Independent Substance Abuse Counselor.

On a personal note, Nicole enjoys spending time with family, sports, outdoor activities and traveling.

 

RON SMITH, MSW, LCSW
Chief Development Officer

Ron brings over 35 year of experience in behavioral health and is focused on expanding Lifewell Behavioral Wellness’ high quality programs and services, development of strategic partnerships with various stakeholders and integrated care that is member oriented and performance driven.

Prior to joining Lifewell in 2014, Ron has served in a number of capacities including his most recent tenure as CEO of CHOICES Network for the past seven years. Other behavioral health positions held by Mr. Smith include Assistant Director for the Arizona Department of Health Services, Division of Behavioral Health, CEO of Phoenix Interfaith Counseling, Bureau Chief of Children’s Services for ADHS, Director of Children’s Services for Value Options, Executive Director of Camelback Hospitals Counseling Center and Executive Director of Community Behavioral Health.

Ron holds a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Michigan State University and is Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Arizona.

When time permits, Ron enjoys golf and visiting his adult children living in California and Texas.

Chief Information Officer

Bryan oversees implementation and utilization of all Lifewell Behavioral Wellness technology, including application development, telecommunications, enterprise hardware and software including Lifewell Behavioral Wellness’ Electronic Health Record (EHR).

With over 18 years of experience as an information technology consultant in the behavioral health field, including over 10 years consulting for New Arizona Family Inc. and Triple R Behavioral Health, Bryan joined Lifewell in 2011.

He holds a variety of certifications from technology organizations, including Cisco, Microsoft, IBM, VMWare, EMC and SCO.

In his free time Bryan enjoys working with youth groups and traveling with his family.

Chief Quality Officer

Lindsay manages Lifewell Behavioral Wellness audits and surveys, licensing, facility credentialing, critical incidents, investigations, subpoenas and ensures that the agency maintains compliance and quality improvement. Lindsay supports Lifewell Behavioral Wellness’ clinical staff in providing members with the greatest quality care possible.

Lindsay began work in the non-profit sector in 2005 as the coordinator for a local family homeless shelter and later made her way into Quality as a specialist in compliance for both emergency services and in behavioral health.

Lindsay earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from Arizona State University.

As a native of Arizona, Lindsay has an enthusiasm for the community and looks forward to the opportunity for continued contribution to the local need.

 

Mona-aminiDR. MONA AMINI, MD, MBA
Chief Medical Officer

Dr. Amini manages and oversees the medical staff within Lifewell Behavioral Wellness. With experience in prior administrative roles, she seeks to utilize her knowledge in bringing evidence-based psychiatric care to both her staff and the behavioral health members. Her ultimate ambition is to help lead and redefine behavioral healthcare in Arizona.

Dr. Amini earned her M.D. through St. Matthew’s University School of Medicine and her M.B.A. through Davenport University. She completed her residency training through Banner- University Medical Center Phoenix and has held a vast array of clinical duties within the Valley including inpatient acute psychiatric care, consultation/liaision in medical settings, residential addiction treatment center consultation, telepsychiatry, outpatient therapy, outpatient community psychiatric care, and skilled nursing facility consultations.

As a native of Arizona, she is engaged in the Arizona chapter of the American Psychiatric Association (AZ Psychiatric Society) serving on its Executive Council since 2011 in an effort to serve her community. She is also a member of other national professional associations, including the Academy of Psychosomatic Medicine.

Dr. Amini enjoys spending time with her family and friends, photography, and traveling.

 

ALEXANDRA SCHINDLER, PHR
Human Resources Director

Alexandra manages the Human Resources Department at Lifewell Behavioral Wellness and provides strategic leadership to recruiting, employee relations, staffing and retention, compensation, benefits and legal and regulatory compliance.

Prior to joining Lifewell Behavioral Wellness in 2009, Alexandra served in various Human Resources roles with increasing responsibilities.

Alexandra received her Master’s Degree in Law from the Paris-Lodron University of Salzburg (Austria) and earned her Professional in Human Resources (PHR) in 2012 and SHRM – Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) in 2015. She is an active member of the Society for Human Resources Management.

In her spare time, Alexandra enjoys spending time with her family and pets, working on home improvement projects and traveling.
